The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Katsina Sector Command, Corps Commander Maxwell K. Lede, has paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA), Major Yahya Garba (Rtd), to explore areas of collaboration aimed at improving road safety in the state.

During the meeting held on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, the two agency heads deliberated on strategies to reduce road crashes, promote joint public awareness campaigns, and improve professionalism among their personnel.

Lede commended Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for establishing KASSAROTA, describing the agency as a vital institution with numerous responsibilities towards safeguarding lives and property, particularly on the roads.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety, which seeks to cut traffic-related deaths and injuries by 50 percent by 2030.

“The state deserves the best service delivery from us because it has given us the best support and an enabling environment to operate. We must reciprocate by ensuring efficiency and visible performance,” Lede stated.

Among the key highlights of the discussion were:

  • Collaboration in reducing road traffic crashes across the state.

  • Joint sensitisation campaigns in motor parks and public spaces to discourage common traffic offences.

  • Training programmes to enhance professionalism among officers.

  • Joint patrols to tackle overloading and other violations.

The partnership between FRSC and KASSAROTA is expected to boost traffic management, improve enforcement of traffic laws, and enhance road safety not only in Katsina State but across Nigeria.
